Ella is a student at Huanui College. She is on the Northland debating team, is the community service coordinator at her school, and volunteers at Kamo Retirement Village. She believes that her community has a lot of potential to do good for young people. She is on the Whangarei Youth Advisory Group as a result of her passion to represent youth, and her interest in the Future Leaders Programme stems from my desire to address issues that she considers important, such as mental health in teenagers and biculturalism in Whangarei. She hopes to create more conversations around issues that are largely being ignored, but beyond that she want to cause a positive change in Whangarei’s youth culture and hopefully facilitate better youth engagement with local council.
